Learning from the #MeToo Moment: Building a Compliant Anti-Harassment Practice and Training Program in Your Foundation

The scandals that have rocked Hollywood and toppled the careers of producers, directors and network news talent have raised the discussion of workplace misconduct to a new level.  In 2018, both New York State and New York City passed laws intended to combat workplace sexual harassment.  All employers are required to adopt a written sexual harassment prevention policy, including a complaint form, and provide annual sexual harassment training for every employee.

Understanding the difference between discrimination and harassment, and the responsibilities that all managers have to recognize and take action is critical to ensuring an inclusive work environment.  Employers are beginning to understand the impact of #MeToo in their own organizations, and employees – from senior level managers to the newest managers in an organization - must have the tools and knowledge to ensure that policies translate into appropriate action.

Join us for this training designed for business owners and managers, where we will examine the laws that prohibit workplace harassment, the ways those laws are translated into policy and the actions that managers should know to take when they see or learn about harassment in the workplace.

We will learn:

  • The new training mandates of the New York State and New York City laws.
  • How your business can create clear standards, policies and practices that comply with the law and encourage an anti-harassment culture
  • Ways to help employees, including managers, recognize inappropriate behavior and take appropriate action
  • Strategies to ensure that employees can make a claim without fear of retaliation
  • How to protect your business from claims of harassment or discrimination
